The Mansion on Turtle Creek is like Dallas’ answer to the Waldorf -- it’s about as luxurious and high-end as it gets. Located in the former estate of a cotton magnate but renovated to make it modern, the hotel boasts a grand and elegant marble lobby, a pool with trellises, plants, and shaded seating, and a renowned upscale restaurant. The rooms are spacious, with large marble bathrooms and connected patios. The gym is large and modern, and public spaces feature fireplaces, stained glass windows, and ample seating. Of course, none of this comes cheap, and the rates are pricey for Dallas (not for New York). But that’s to be expected with a 2-to-1 staff-to-guest ratio.
The location is a little removed from the shopping and galleries of Uptown Dallas, but the hotel offers free car service within a five-mile radius. It’s also a short drive to the fun and gay-friendly West Village neighborhood, which bustles with restaurants, nightlife, and shopping options.
Very nice hotel.
