It’s almost as if a flashy Vegas hotel was dropped in the middle of Old Montreal. The W boutique hotel here is darkly lit and trendy, with a chic cocktail bar called Bartizen, signature restaurant Tbsp., and a fairly consistent nightlife scene. It’s not close to the hip, young neighborhoods of Montreal, but it’s within walking distance of the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, the port, and the downtown attractions. The best shopping, Montreal style bagels in Mile End, and the famous outdoor food market, are on the north end of town.
Rooms offer dramatic sunken tubs, walk-in “rain forest” showers, and high thread count linens, and some offer terraces, 20 foot high windows opening onto Victoria Square Park, and large dining spaces. All are laid out high-contrast furnishings with gold accents, soft lighting and vibrant art.
